Usage guide and examples

Generate owner and group change commands

Choose MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis or MongoDB to fill in common accounts and data paths for the labelled installation. All fields remain editable; recursion stays unchanged. PostgreSQL uses the data root, which can be changed to a cluster path. Enter an owner, a group, or both using common account names or numeric UID/GID values. Owner-only input keeps the group; group-only input keeps the owner. Enter a target path or leave it empty for path/to/file. Enable -R to include subdirectories and files, then click the command or copy button. Numeric IDs receive a + prefix to distinguish them from account names.

Check the input format and options with this example before using your own data. Random values, file sizes and presentation vary with the input and settings.

Example input and settings

alice:www-data · /srv/app · -R

What to check in the result

chown -R -- 'alice:www-data' '/srv/app'
