Usage guide and examples

Permission details

Enter three or four octal digits such as 755 or 4755, symbolic permissions such as rwxr-xr-x or rwsr-xr-x, or a file-type prefix such as drwxr-xr-x. Toggle read, write and execute for owner, group and others; results stay synchronized. Standard bits read, write and execute have values 4, 2 and 1. Setuid, Setgid and Sticky bit contribute 4, 2 and 1 to the leading special digit. Lowercase s / t includes execute permission, uppercase S / T does not. Choose a 644, 600, 755 or 700 preset, enter a target path, and copy each mode or command. Enable -R to include subdirectories and files. Click the command or copy button to copy it; Reset turns recursion off.

Check the input format and options with this example before using your own data. Random values, file sizes and presentation vary with the input and settings.
